The problems
catalyst loss and efficiency

The main problem to be solved, in solution, regard the efficiency and stability of the catalyst as:

so, loss of catalyst has to be avoided.

The catalyst can be used:

  1. free in solution
  2. immobilised on inert support

In the first case problems arise, especially for nanoparticles catalyst, to find a suitable method to maintain it in the test cell

In the second case a continuous loss of the immobilised catalyst can occur

A poisoning of the catalyst, due to the matrix or target molecule or some of its degradation intermediates can also occur
