Under the patronage of Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Italy, established in 1974 as the Ministry for Cultural Assets and Environments. The MiBAC seeks as its main goal, the protection and enhancement of Italian cultural heritage, to preserve the memory of the national community and its territory and to promote the development of culture and turism. MiBAC is organized into a General Secretariat, which coordinates 9 General Directorates, 17 Regional Directorates, 80 Superintendences concerning the archaeological, architectonical, artistic and ethno-anthropological heritage, 19 archival Superintendences, 101 Archives, 47 State Libraries, and about 500 among museums, monuments, and archaeological sites. |
