Heavy metals: sample pretreatment

  A classical preconcetration technique was used to have sea water samples with heavy metal ions at concentration over the LODs. Amberlite XAD-4 activated, at controlled pH, by APDC (ammonium 1-pyrrolidinecarbodithioic acid) [1] and 4 mol/L HNO3 were used as ion-exchange resin and eluent respectively
